TABANG MALINAO Aid Distribution

Last August 22, 2011 Social Action Center of the Diocese of Legazpi conducted the initial distribution of relief at San Nicolas Tolentino Parish in Estancia, Malinao, Albay to the most affected families of Typhoon Juaning that struck Albay last July 25-26, 2011. The municipality of Malinao was the most devastated leaving many homeless families and destroyed livelihood. 553 households from the Barangays of Labnig, Diaro, Soa, and Ogob benefited from the assistance.

During the day, Fr. Jun Adille, parish priest, welcomed the recipients and thanked the Social Action Center for the initiative. Fr. Monching Segubiense, SAC-Executive Director, in response expressed that the assistance does not only came from SAC but most of it came from the groups and individuals with generous hearts. Fr. Segubiense also thanked the recipients for coming and the cooperation of the parish.

The distribution was efficiently facilitated by staffs of the Social Action Center of the Diocese of Legazpi, the kind and cooperation of parish priest and his parishioners of San Nicolas Tolentino Parish, and the presence and support of representatives from the Association of Major Religious Superiors in the Philippines (AMRSP) and Extension Service of University of Sta. Isabel in Naga City. They assisted in the distribution of goods. Prior to the activity, the parish made the survey of household that were mostly affected by the Typhoon Juaning. Recipients were provided tickets for claims during the distribution. The recipients were very cooperative also during the distribution; they fall in line and waited for their turn. Overwhelmed, many even come very early before the given time.

The recipients were grateful and expressed happiness for the goods they received. Sobs and hugs were evident among the recipients as they lined up during the distribution. One great moment was evident as they gestured gratefulness and thanks to the staff.
